Chancellor’s Diversity Committee to Present Diversity and Inclusion Awards of Excellence
Two Awards will be presented by the Chancellor’s Diversity Committee/Center for Diversity Affairs to an employee (faculty or staff) and a student nominated for excellence documented in the areas of diversity and inclusion. The nominees shall have contributed to the understanding and value of diversity at UAMS and the campus environment or in the larger community through the promotion of better cross-cultural relationships. The nominees shall have demonstrated one or more of the following:
- Commitment to the spirit of diversity through word and action.
- Leadership through positive interactions with persons of diverse backgrounds and points of view.
- Behaviors which foster respect for inclusion of persons within the institution or in the community who are members of traditionally underrepresented groups.
The employee nominee shall be a regular employee of UAMS on either a full or part time (50% minimum) basis. The student nominee shall be currently enrolled in in a UAMS academic program with a minimum course load and be in good academic standing. Nomination forms can be secured from the Office of Human Resources or on-line. The Chancellor’s Diversity Committee will review the nominations and select finalists. The Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusion will select the winners from the finalists. The award will be presented in November at the Employee Service Awards Ceremony. Please limit nominations to no more than 600 words. The deadline for submitting nominations is September 30, 2013 and should be returned to firstname.lastname@example.org or to email@example.com.
