International Delegation Visits UAMS to Talk LGBT Rights

An international delegation for Human Civil Rights for All from the International Visitor Leadership Program through the U.S. State Department met with the UAMS Center for Diversity Affairs’ leaders in June.

The group made a stop at UAMS during a three-week tour where they met with organizations around the country on the topic of LGBT rights. The delegation included representatives from eight different countries.

Billy Thomas, M.D., Ph.D., UAMS vice chancellor for diversity and inclusion, greeted the delegation and talked about strides UAMS has taken toward diversity for the LGBT community. He and student representatives spoke about the LGBT Alliance, a student-led and student-founded organization for students and faculty members.
